If throwing some sick shapes to a pumping onslaught of banging tunes is your kind of thing, then you’ll be in your element in Malta. Boasting an outstanding club culture, Malta possesses an impressive array of top-rated clubs as well as an ever-growing list of noteworthy DJs and music producers.

Additionally, some of the world’s finest DJs like David Guetta, Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, and Tiësto have more recently started to host regular large-scale events in Maltese clubs.

The obvious place to start off your Maltese clubbing experience is in Paceville (pronounced par–cher–vil) - Malta’s nightlife capital and party central. Here you’ll find a wide variety of clubs, bars, and lounges as well as restaurants, a cinema, a shopping mall, and a bowling alley. Clubs range from heavily commercialised teen-traps, to R&B hotspots and steamy salsa bars.

But if you’d like to turn up your Maltese clubbing experience by a few notches, your best bet would be to make friends with some locals and ask for some tips of where’s hot, or see if you can accompany them on their next foray. 

Bizarrely and unusually, the Maltese countryside is strewn with the occasional unassuming venues that become the ultimate clubbing attractions during summer weekends.  Even seemingly innocent beaches can have the tendency to turn into all-night dance-fests. You just need to know where to look or ask around when you’re out!

Another unique experience to sample is a boat party. Party craft load up with a couple of hundred revellers and a bar-full of beer before embarking on a nightlong cruise around the Med’. During the journey, the DJs will keep the party going, while the captain will stop the boat every now and then to allow those who feel inclined to do so to take a jump into the warm, dark sea. After splashing around a bit to cool off, you climb back aboard to rejoin the soaking dance floor.

Smoking is illegal in indoor venues and the minimum drinking age in Malta is 16. Anyone who looks too young may be asked for identification by security personnel at the doors so if you’re baby-faced it’s worth taking some proof of age with you to avoid disappointment.
