Take A Pleasure Cruise

Pleasure Cruise, Malta

If you read through the many wonderful descriptions of the things to do on this site you’ll notice that on more than one occasion we tell you to get in a boat. This is not because we have shares in them, well not all of them anyway, but more to do with the fact that it would be a crying shame not to experience the Maltese islands from the sea.

So here’s another attempt to get you on-board, this time on a pleasure cruise to see the sights from atop the crystal clear blue Mediterranean. Well, why wouldn’t you? We’ll even answer that one for you because my other half hates boats and breaks out in a cold sweat at the merest hint of any pitching or rolling. Yet even she has to admit that the Maltese sea is as calm as a sloth on prozac! There’s nothing at all to fear. That said, she did insist on wearing a lifebelt  - but that’s not compulsory!

Cruising around Malta and Gozo provides you with a total view-fest with vista after vista popping up in front of your eyes in quick succession.  Round-Malta and Round-Gozo cruises give you the opportunity to experience some of the Mediterranean's most stunning views, as you sail past the imposing bastions of Valletta and its Grand Harbour, the history-laden Three Cities, and the chic, commercial centres of Sliema and St Julian's. What’s more, as any semi-serious photographer will tell you, you get much better pictures in the sunlight and over here, that’s pretty much guaranteed.

Full-day cruises will take you along the scenic Maltese and Gozitan coastlines viewing fishing villages, salt pans and the impressive Dingli cliffs. You’ll glide past Popeye Village, several bays and inlets and then on to the crystal clear waters of the island of Comino's famous Blue Lagoon for walking, swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing.

Buffet lunches, cold drinks and typical Maltese snacks are usually included with the package, as are the optional speedboat rides to the fascinating caves of Comino and its Blue Lagoon plus other attractions.

There is an exciting range of different cruises to choose from, all of them operated by new and established holiday companies who recruit the best crews to sail an amazing variety of boats.

You can also go on a Grand Harbour Cruise or a Gozo and Comino Cruise. There are also special cruises connected with specific activities, like diving and snorkelling, fishing and skiiing. These islands were made for this.

So, basically, you will need to do some research before you decide exactly which boat you get on and where you would like it to take you. But whatever you do in Malta for goodness sake …. GET IN A BOAT!

There a re plenty of operators to choose from on the island and you can find a list of some of the best by clicking on the link below. If you just want to turn up and set off then you’ll find plenty of options down on the harbour edge in Sliema, while tours of the Grand Harbour in Valletta leave from the swish Waterfront area.
