Classic Name
The Osteria Restaurant’s name comes from the old Italian meaning of somewhere comfortable, a warm and friendly place to eat and drink for the population of the area.
Osteria embodies this by being a restaurant made for the locals with big portions, home-cooked style food and traditional dishes commonly eaten by the Maltese such as bragioli and even also having rabbit nights which really brings the community together.
Some examples of the home cooked food are the well sought after Lasagne which is prepared daily. The traditional bragioli also known as beef olives with mash potato and the meaty sauce.
Even the BBQ sauce for the spareribs and the Spicy Buffalo sauce for the chicken wings are completely made from scratch.
When travelling abroad, Tom and Zack always looked for where the locals eat. This is because you are guaranteed to eat like a local and genuinely cooked food. This is embodied by the Osteria’s menu and service.
The Aljotta is a staple on the Maltese cuisine. Our Aljotta is the original recipe passed down through the Kina family.
We prepare it in the Osteria just like Chef Tom’s grandmother used to make for them at family gatherings. The Soup consists of not more than five ingredients. Fresh fish, Onion, Garlic, Marjoram and Diced tomatoes.
The simplicity of this dish is what really makes it special because it leaves no room for anything but top quality and fresh ingredients.
In the Osteria, there’s truly something for everyone. From a classic Margherita pizza to a perfectly cooked 350g rib-eye steak, our menu offers a range of dishes to satisfy any craving.
Some plates are crafted with a Maltese twist, like the popular Maltija Pizza topped with rabbit, peas, and sundried tomato, or the Ftira pizza with tuna, olives, and slices of potato.
And when we serve up our tender Pork spareribs, guests are often left speechless. Join us for a memorable evening filled with wine, laughter, and food that brings a sense of nostalgia!
