Queen Tribute Band to Headline Swieqi Fest 2023

23 August, 2023 | Alex Teoli

Featuring a Queen Tribute Band along with a host of established local artists as well as up-and-coming talent, this year’s edition of the Swieqi Fest promises to be ‘A Kind of Magic’!

A fusion of live music, art and culture, the festival will be taking place at the Swieqi Civic Centre between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of September! It’s free to attend and with food and bar stalls there to make sure you don't go hungry. Plus, with activities for kids starting from as young as five years old, there promises to be something for everyone!

Star Studded Line-Up with Fresh Talent!

Hailing from Italy and named after a famous Queen track, ‘Break Free’ started covering Queen’s music back in 2015. They have since garnered quite a name for themselves across Europe recreating all the famous costumes (including the yellow jacket), choreography and energy on stage in front of thousands of people!

Although not performing in front of nearly as many people this time round, this affair promises to be a more intimate one. Break Free" is slated to perform on the second day of the three-day event, Saturday, 2nd September, at 9:35 pm, with a set lasting 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Other more local acts include Kevin Paul who will be performing alongside season one X-Factor runner-up Owen Leuellen on Friday 1 September. Additionally, be sure to catch performances by Gaia Gauci, Maxine Pace, Karen Duff, Wayne Camilleri Trio Band and many more!

Something for the whole Family

As part of the festivities, the Swieqi Arts Group will be holding a Mixed Arts Event featuring an array of different exhibitions from ceramics to sculptures from local and foreign artists!

These art pieces will be on display throughout the three-day festival and everyone is invited to come and enjoy these wonderful pieces, presented by more than 20 Artists!

On the last day of the festival (Sunday 3 September - 5:30pm - 6:30pm) the Swieqi Arts Group will also be doing something for just the kids! Children’s Art Time will give kids aged between 5 and 12 the chance to have fun and let loose all while getting creative with paints! Meanwhile, the parents can enjoy the Garden while getting a drink or snack from one of the many food stalls.

This will be the 11th edition of the Swieqi Fest and the Local Council invites each and everyone one of you to attend in what promises to be a great spectacle for the whole family to enjoy.
